Icelandic music tech company Genki Instruments, one of the startups at Innovation House Reykjavik ships Wave, it’s debut product

Wednesday, 11 September 2019 by María Þorgeirsdóttir

Great news! Icelandic music tech company Genki Instruments, one of the startups at Innovation House Reykjavik ships Wave, it’s debut product. Wave is the ring that lets you control sound with motion.

Wave is the ring that lets you control sound with motion. First shown to the world as a rough prototype at NAMM 2018, Wave by Genki Instruments caught the eyes of attendees and media alike (Reuters, Synthtopia) for it’s unique properties and innovative technology.

Wave allows musicians to easily control sound, shape effects or send commands using gestures. With three accessible buttons, users are in full control and can turn the ring on or off as well as change sounds, parameters and effects without having to go back to the computer. Due to it’s design musicians never have to take their hands off their instrument while using Wave, and using Wave on top off the instruments adds another layer of creativity to it. Meet the startups! Size Advice is one of the startups in Innovation House

Sunday, 27 January 2019 by María Þorgeirsdóttir
Size Advice (sizeadvice.com) is a software plugin that helps you buy the right size clothes online. Returned clothing bought online costs the apparel industry billions of dollars and one of the biggest reason for returns is problems with the fit.
The Size Advice team has developed proprietary methods to drastically simplify the process of measuring your body. This technology is now being packaged into a plugin for eCommerce platforms (Shopify, Magento, etc.).
In the Size Advice team, there are two guys called Emil and Emil. You can call them Emil 1 and Emil 2. Emil 1 handles the technical side of the product: designing, implementing and testing code and making sure things run smoothly. Emil 2 too.
When the Emils aren’t working on the product, they are probably hiking, travelling or hanging out with friends and family.

Welcome to Innovation House – team EpiEndo!

Monday, 07 January 2019 by María Þorgeirsdóttir

EpiEndo is an Icelandic pharmaceutical and biotech startup company, primarily focused on solutions to chronic airway diseases. EpiEndo is the only company targeting Epithelial Barrier Failure (EBF) in respiratory diseases. Applying the paradigm of the “leaky epithelial barrier” both diagnostically and therapeutically makes EpiEndo a unique industry player and has enabled ways to disrupt the status-quo that has prevailed in the respiratory sector for decades.

Our company name stems from our view of the body’s Epithelial-Endothelial interfaces.

Our team includes Icelandic, Swedish and English medical biology and pharmaceutical experts and an experienced Scientific Advisory Board composed by important Key Opinion Leaders with a strong clinical and pharmacology background and extensive experience in managing international large projects.

The team members located at the Innovation House are EpiEndo’s COO Finnur Friðrik Einarsson and from time to time  EpiEndo’s Founder and board member, Friðrik Rúnar Garðsson, MD.

Students visiting Genki Instrument

Wednesday, 24 October 2018 by María Þorgeirsdóttir

Genki Instruments recently had the pleasure of hosting students from the departments of mathematics, physics and electrical engineering at the University of Iceland.

The students had a chance to learn a bit about the technical aspects of hardware/software development while also getting a glimpse into the lives of startup-founders that not too long ago were standing in their shoes.

Events such as this one are quite common amongst university students in Iceland, who regularly have the chance to lay down the books and visit companies in a relaxed setting on a Friday evening and learn about industry opportunities post graduation.

During their time at the electrical engineering department at the University of Iceland, two of Genki Instruments’ co-founders had a chance to participate in numerous such fun events, and are happy to now have hosted their first one.
